Anger is a secondary emotion. That means it’s an emotion that always occurs with some other emotion - fear, sadness, shame. If you can tend to the emotion underneath anger, then you can usually lessen your anger. When anger lessens we can express our hurt and make decisions about what to do differently. Grief won’t always makes sense. It won’t arrive when you expect it. It is normal to experience grief at random times, and random ways, intensely, or softly. The point is… There are no rules. If you are telling yourself, you should be over it, that’s not correct. This analogy about grief, being a button in a box that can be hit at any time and felt as intensely as the day it happened, it will make sense to anyone who’s experience loss and grief. Becoming to yourself.
